We never discuss politics or tragic incidents here at Official Hype because it's not really part of our interests. However, when I watched the NRA's executive Vice-President Wayne Lapierre's response about the Newtown incident and his proposed suggestions to improve the security of 'Merica...I facepalmed so hard that I crushed my skull.
Right from the get go, you know that the conference and proposals are going to be extremely stupid when David Keene, the NRA's President, explains that they will not take any questions from journalists after the conference. If you're not going to take any questions, why the fuck would you invite them to a press conference...the little minds over at the NRA need another week to come up with answers to their embarrassing proposals.
Everything about his speech seems so unnatural, especially with his pathetic body language. The constant frowning, head shaking, the closing of the eyes, the forced facepalm at 18:05, the way he takes little pauses like if he's about to pass out/cry is so obviously fake, acted and insincere that it's extremely insulting for anybody that watches. His behavior when he announces the video game "Kindergarden Killer" is so full of shit, it can help grow enough crop to feed Liberia. You can tell why he's really there, he gets more natural and genuine towards the end of the conference...when he's talking about the NRA's programs...because that's all they really care about; their business.
Just to remind the entire world how disconnected the NRA is from reality, the bigot goes on to blame video games, movies, music and the entertainment industry in general as part of the problem for the thousands of gun murders that happen in the States every year. There's only one word needed to shut that argument down: JAPAN. It's well known that the Japanese have produced some of the most fucked up movies and video games in history but yet Japan's gun related murders are almost non existent.
It's sad that the United States gun problem has gotten to the point where the NRA is proposing something as stupid as having armed men and women in schools. Needing to have guns in schools to prevent kids from gettin' blown up is more embarrassing than having to put a leash on your child when going out in public.
Banning assault rifles & semi-automatic's, investing in mental health research and making the process for purchasing a gun so complicated that it's almost impossible to get seem like pretty obvious ideas to change the gun culture in America (or anywhere really). I can't really blame Lapierre for seeming to come off as disingenuous when talking about schools and young people...it's not like guns and children have anything in common, nor should they ever be in the same topic of conversation...or sentence...and even less in the same building. They don't go hand in hand and that's why this proposal is getting blasted by every single rational human being.
