Mark Zuckerberg will be donating around 18 million Facebook shares worth around $498.8 million to the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, a nonprofit charity that focuses on health and education issues. This is not the first generous donation by Zuckerberg, he donated $100 million worth of stock to the Newark public school system back in 2010. It's to note that the Facebook creator signed the "Giving Pledge" which was started by Bill Gates, in which he (Gates) encourages the wealthy to donate most of their fortunes. The act as great as it is, definitely raises questions about the timing of the announcement considering the disastrous reception of Instagram's latest policy change.
